He has published 4 articles on autism:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Play Interactions of Family Members towards Children with Autism (1999)<\/li>\n<li>A Developmental-Behavioral Approach to Outpatient Psychotherapy with Children with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nimh.nih.gov\/health\/topics\/autism-spectrum-disorders-asd\/index.shtml\">Autism Spectrum Disorders<\/a> (2011)<\/li>\n<li>Enhancing the Identification of Autism Spectrum Disorders via a Model of Culturally Sensitive Childhood Assessment (2012)<\/li>\n<li>Resilience and the Narratives of Parents of Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders (2012)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Dr. El-Ghoroury has presented at numerous conferences on autism spectrum disorders, including presentations in Spanish:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>American Psychological Association<\/li>\n<li>Society of InterAmerican Psychology (in Spanish)<\/li>\n<li>Congreso Latinoamericano de Estudiantes en Psicologia (in Spanish)<\/li>\n<li>Hawaii Psychological Association (keynote presentation)<\/li>\n<li>MetroHealth Medical Center (grand rounds for pediatricians)<\/li>\n<li>American University in Cairo (Egypt, in English)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Dr. El-Ghoroury\u2019s clinical experience with children with autism spectrum disorders is broad:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Two years of clinical work and research at the UCLA Young Autism Project, where he trained with <a href=\"http:\/\/thelovaascenter.com\/about-us\/dr-ivar-lovaas\/\">Dr. Ivar Lovaas<\/a> in home based applied behavior analysis (ABA) with children with ASDs;<\/li>\n<li>Clinical work and research at the Institute for Child Development, a private special education school for children with autism in Binghamton, NY;<\/li>\n<li>Postdoctoral training in school consultation for applied behavioral analysis at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.urmc.rochester.edu\/strong-center-developmental-disabilities.aspx\">University of Rochester, Strong Center for Developmental Disabilities<\/a>, where he received advanced training in functional behavior assessment and use of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, the gold standard measure for ASDs<\/li>\n<li>Seven years of practice at MetroHealth Medical Center, Cleveland, OH, where he conducted individual assessments and provided psychological services to children with ASDs, including assessment and intervention in Spanish.<\/li>\n<li>He was awarded the Student Research Prize from the Autism Special Interest Group of the Association for the Advancement of Behavior Therapy (AABT) for his master&#8217;s degree thesis examining how family members played with children who have autism.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition to his expertise in autism spectrum disorders, Dr. El-Ghoroury has over a decade of experience with other child and adolescent conditions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>externalizing childhood behavior problems (such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and oppositional defiant disorder)<\/li>\n<li>anxiety disorders<\/li>\n<li>mood disorders (depression and bipolar disorder)<\/li>\n<li>pediatric health conditions (burns, pseudoseizure, headache, Crohn\u2019s disease, HIV, diabetes, sickle cell anemia).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Dr. El-Ghoroury is fully bilingual. His presentations in South America were given completely in Spanish.
